Dr Phipps has over twenty years experience as an ophthalmologist practicing in Adelaide. Early in his career he undertook sub specialty training overseas. His overseas training included a year at the Gimbel Eye Centre in Calgary Canada learning corneal refractive surgery, both LASIK and PRK. Upon returning to Adelaide he continued to practice refractive surgery for several years before establishing the Goodwood Eye Centre in 2009. At the Goodwood Eye Centre he has dedicated himself to treating glaucoma, age related maculopathy and cataracts.

However this year Dr Phipps has seen an opportunity to resume refractive surgery at Laser Vision SA

He states “It’s an interesting time to return to refractive surgery. The basic principles underpinning refractive surgery and the surgical techniques haven’t changed significantly. However the laser technology itself has improved markedly making the procedure much safer for patients”

Regarding patient safety Dr Phipps further comments  “Patient safety has always been paramount to me. There are a small percentage of patients that could potentially be harmed by refractive surgery. It’s critical to identify those patients who initially will be disappointed when told they don’t qualify but in the long run will be grateful”

Finally he states “I’m excited and looking forward to utilising the state of the art refractive laser technology offered by Laser Vision SA to achieve great visual outcomes for my patients”.
