Dr Graham Fraenkel explains the difference between the three generations of Laser Eye Surgery available at Laser Vision SA.
No noise • No smell • No flap • Less dry eye • One laser only
SMILE Pro is the most modern, least invasive vision correction technology for shortsightedness (myopia). SMILE Pro is quicker and more comfortable than you might imagine!
LASIK has been around for approx 30 years. LASIK is a tried and true method of laser eye surgery. Approx 35 million LASIK procedures have been performed world wide by thousands of eye surgeons.
LASIK laser eye surgery may be used for short sightedness / myopia, long sightedness / hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia (reading glasses).
PRK involves the removal of a surface layer of the front of your eye (the cornea) to allow placement of laser correction of your focus.
Monovision is a very common option if you are approaching 45 years or olderand wish to have good distance and closer vision without glasses.
IOLS are placed behind your pupil after removal of the natural lens there when it is no longer helping you see clearly (Clear Lens Extraction or CLE similar to cataract surgery).
Clear Lens Extraction, also known as Refractive Lens Exchange (RLEX) is a procedure to improve your distance and or close vision. It is quite similar to cataract surgery. The difference CLE is performed to improve focus, not to remove a cloudy cataract.
The Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) is an advanced, thin, clear lens that functions similarly to a contact lens, however it is surgically implanted.
Discover how laser eye surgeries differ and compare. While all three Laser Vision Correction options have high success rates, they differ slightly in the way refractive errors are treated, the treatment method used, and the clinical specifics of each method. Laser Vision SA can help you understand which option is best for your individual eye condition.
