Clear Lens Extraction (CLE)

Clear Lens Extraction, also known as Refractive Lens Exchange (RLEX) is a procedure to improve your distance and or close vision. It is quite similar to cataract surgery. The difference CLE is performed to improve focus, not to remove a cloudy cataract.

Clear lens extraction is similar to cataract surgery, except the natural lens removed, whilst it no longer helped you focus, is not cloudy like a cataract. An intraocular lens (IOL) is then placed behind your pupil to help you focus according to your wishes.

After your initial consultation and booking, the actual procedure is performed at a later date and takes only about 10 minutes per eye.

No injections are used around the eye, so there is no patch needed or bruising after the procedure. Patients see well after 36 hours and carry on with almost all normal duties after 24 hours.
