Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL)

The Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) is an advanced, thin, clear lens that functions similarly to a contact lens, however it is surgically implanted.

Ideal for patients with symptoms of myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness) and/or astigmatism.

ICLs can be thought of as Internal Contact Lenses (ICL). They may be used for patients < 45 years old not be suitable for laser vision correction. The ICL is placed behind your pupil so cannot be seen or felt. ICLs may remain permanently avoiding the daily discomfort, inconvenience, expense and hygiene risk that may be associated with daily insertion and removal of contacts.

ICLs are inserted in a short 10 minute procedure at our dedicated day procedure centre, without needle injections around the eye before, and no eye patch after.

You can continue with almost all activities 24 hours after the procedure.
